POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME (PCOS) AWARENESS
What: PCOS Awareness Seminar
When: October 4, 2018 10:00am
Where: Gordon College Function Hall
Last October 4, 2018 at exactly 10:00 in the morning, the Gordon College Office of Student Welfare and Services (OSWS) and the Health Services Unit of Gordon College organized a seminar regarding on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness(PCOS) with the theme "Understanding PCOS and how it affects mental health" at the Gordon College Function Hall. To give the students of our college a brief and deeper understanding regarding PCOS Awareness and how this syndrome affects our mental health. The primary focus and target of the seminar are the female students of the Gordon College.
The objective of the Seminar is:
-Discuss PCOS ( POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME)
-Discuss the relationship of anxiety and depression to PCOS.
Dr. Maria Cristina P. Santos, an OB-GYNE discuss that women with Polycsistic Ovarian Syndrome are 3x more likely to report symptoms of anxiety and depression compared to women without PCOS. She discussed and telling us that Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS is the most common endocrine problem in women and it affects 5-7% of the child-bearing age group. Especially on how PCOS can be treated. Dr. Santos also said that proper awareness and early diagnosis can help women to lower the risk factors and manage the symptoms of this disorder.
I have no violent reaction what this seminar conducted. This kind of seminar can be a great way to share the knowledge and awareness for others. I have no suggestion to improve these kinds of seminars because it is a good and knowledgeable seminar indeed but if I will suggest one, is to allowed all students of Gordon College rather individuals be aware on our health issues and to have a proper guidance.
